Qualcomm’s two popular flagship models, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, were compared. Does Qualcomm only bring innovations on paper? Or are there serious differences in performance? Here is the answer.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is more powerful than Gen 2!
As you know, every company produces its new model better than the previous one. Or they market it that way. This situation was also a matter of curiosity for Qualcomm. The company, which launched its flagship model S8 Gen 3 in 2023, made updates on paper or was there really an improvement? Performance reports were shared for this question today.
The winner of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 race, which revealed GPU, CPU, memory and UX performance on AnTuTu, was Gen 3, as we expected. However, the performance difference between the two processors reveals that they were not updated only on paper. Likewise, Gen 2 scores 379,912 points in processor performance, while Gen 3 completes the tests with 456,557 points.
S8 Gen 3, which makes a big difference to Gen 2, which scores 598,302 points with 869,993 points in GPU, makes a difference of approximately 100 thousand points in memory. Gen 2, which scores 287,717 points in user experience, falls behind Gen 3, which scores 372,851 points. When we look at the general scores, Gen 2 scores 1,561,695 points, while Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 scores 2,089,376 points.
This situation reveals that S8 Gen 3 has more than 20% CPU improvement and 40% GPU increase compared to 8 Gen 2. Again, it was determined that Gen 3 was 50 percent more powerful than the processors subjected to 3DMark tests.
The result to be obtained from here is that even if Qualcomm produces processors with similar features, there are serious differences in performance. This increases the expectation for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, which will be released very soon. What do you think about this? You can express your ideas in the comments.
